Police personnel from the 2018 batch, serving across 38 districts, came together under the “Kaakkum Karangal” initiative to extend financial support to the families of colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Late Constable Sankar Kumar (9th Contribution)
Constable Sankar Kumar, who served at Muthappanadu Police Station, Thoothukudi District, tragically lost his life on 18.06.2025. While rescuing a road accident victim fighting for life, he accidentally slipped from a flyover, sustained severe injuries, and later passed away despite treatment.
A total of ₹15,73,318 was raised through contributions from 3,274 police personnel and handed over to his family:
₹10,00,000 FD in Indian Overseas Bank in the name of his son, Master Bala Pon Aswanth
₹3,00,000 FD in Canara Bank in the name of his mother, Mrs. Amirthagani
₹2,00,000 deposit in Indian Overseas Bank in the name of his wife, Mrs. Sonia
A monthly SIP of ₹1,000 for 10 years in the wife’s name
Additionally, ₹40,000 cash to Amirthagani and ₹33,318 cash to Sonia, along with all bank documents and saplings, were formally handed over on 17.09.2025 by Tenkasi District SP, Mr. S. Aravind.
Late Constable Vivek (8th Contribution)
Constable K. Vivek, who was serving in the Tiruchirappalli Armed Reserve Reconditioning Centre, lost his life in a road accident on 01.03.2025.
A total of ₹11,03,018 was raised through contributions from 2,935 police personnel and handed over to his family:
- ₹2,00,000 FD in SBI in the name of his mother, Mrs. Chithra
- ₹2,00,000 FD in SBI in the name of his wife, Mrs. Bhavya
- ₹7,00,000 SBI Life Smart Privilege Plus Policy in the name of his son, Master Kaushikan
The deposit documents and memorial saplings were handed over to the family by Tiruchirappalli District SP, Mr. S. Selva Nagarathinam, IPS.
These acts of solidarity by the 2018 batch police officers not only highlight their unity but also stand as a touching gesture of support to the families of their fallen colleagues. On behalf of the bereaved families and the respective district police units, heartfelt thanks were extended to the “Kaakkum Karangal” team.
