The Tamil Nadu Police Department’s 2025 state-level shooting competition for male and female police personnel was held from July 24 to 26 at the Tamil Nadu Commando Force Training School’s shooting range in Ottivakkam, Chengalpattu district. Separate competitions were conducted for men and women in three categories—rifle, pistol/revolver, and carbine/stun gun—with a total of 13 events.
In this prestigious competition, personnel from the Avadi City Police delivered an outstanding performance. Inspector of the Cyber Crime Wing, Mr. B. Praveen Kumar, won a silver medal in the Run & Shoot 40–30 Yards event and a bronze medal in the Quick Reflex 25 Yards event under the pistol/revolver category. Assistant Sub-Inspector Mrs. Sudha from the Thiruninravur Police Station secured a gold medal in Run & Shoot 40–30 Yards, a silver medal in Quick Reflex 25 Yards, a bronze in Snap Shooting 50 Yards, and was also awarded the Overall Best Shot title in the pistol/revolver category.
Woman Police Constable Mrs. Nandhini from the Avadi Traffic Police Station won a gold medal in the 25 Yards Battle Crouch event and a silver for the Overall Best Shot in the carbine/stun gun category. In the rifle category, WPC Mrs. Kokiladevi and WPC Miss Selvarani from the Armed Reserve won a silver and bronze medal respectively in the 200 Yards Kneeling Position event. Furthermore, the women police team from Avadi City Police secured third place in the overall team championship in both rifle and carbine shooting categories.
Following this commendable achievement, on July 28, 2025, Avadi City Police Commissioner Mr. K. Shankar, IPS, personally met with the medal-winning inspectors, assistant inspectors, and women constables to congratulate and appreciate their exceptional shooting skills. In total, the Avadi City Police secured 3 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals along with 2 championship trophies, bringing great pride to the department at the state level.
