Recovered ₹1,06,73,161 Lost in Online Frauds and Returned to the Public — Notable Achievement by Avadi Police Commissionerate
Several residents under the Avadi Police Commissionerate limits had lost large sums of money after being deceived by online fraudsters through fake stock trading platforms and part-time job offers. Based on the complaints submitted to Avadi Police Commissioner Thiru. K. Shankar, IPS, swift action was initiated.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Thiru. Maheshwaran and the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Cyber Crime Thiru. Arnold Easter, the Cyber Crime team carried out an intensive investigation. Fraudulent bank accounts used by the scammers were identified, frozen, and the funds were secured.


Between 15.10.2025 and 18.11.2025, the Cyber Crime Wing successfully froze ₹1,06,73,161/- across 36 cases, and with court approval, the recovered money was returned to the affected victims.
In a formal event held today (19.11.2025), the following beneficiaries received their Remittance Certificates:
- Tmt. Bharathi — ₹33,33,743/-
- Thiru. Dinesh Kumaran — ₹6,49,000/-
- Thiru. Munusamy — ₹6,36,462/-
- Thiru. Muthukumar — ₹6,33,000/-
- Thiru. Subbarao — ₹11,57,168/-
- Thiru. Paulin Thambi Das — ₹3,77,152/-
As per the instructions of Avadi Police Commissioner Thiru. K. Shankar, IPS, the certificates were handed over by Additional Commissioner of Police Tmt. K. Bhavaneswari, IPS.
