Pudukottai District, July 1, 2025 – During a routine vehicle check conducted near Viralimalai Toll Plaza at around 5:30 AM, police personnel from the Viralimalai Police Station, including Inspector Mrs. Latha and Sub-Inspector Mr. Prakash, intercepted a Tata 407 vehicle (Reg. No. KA 03 D 3159).
Upon inspection, the vehicle was found to be carrying approximately 507 kilograms of banned tobacco products, including:
Hans – 375 kg
Cool Lip – 25.576 kg
Vimal Pan Masala – 73.200 kg
V1 Tobacco – 10.368 kg
Following the seizure, the police arrested the vehicle driver, Naveen Kumar (35), son of Aswanath Narayanan, a resident of Venkadapuram, Koratagere Taluk, Karnataka.
A case has been registered at the Viralimalai Police Station under Crime No. 248/25, invoking sections 275 and 123 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 6(1) and 24(1) of the COTPA Act. Further investigation is underway.
