An awareness programme on preventing child marriage was conducted for students of the Government Higher Secondary School at Kalarampatti village in Perambalur district. The event aimed to educate students on the dangers and social impact of child marriage.
The programme was held on the instructions of Mr. Adarsh Basera, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Perambalur district. Assistant Headmaster Mr. Senthilkumar, Special Sub-Inspector Mr. Maruthamuthu from the Protection of Women and Children Wing, One Stop Center Case Worker Mrs. Soundarya, Meera Foundation (NGO) representative Mrs. Arunadevi, along with school teachers participated in the event.

Anti–Child Marriage Pledge
Students were guided to take a pledge stating that they would:
- Take necessary steps to prevent child marriage,
- Ensure that such practices do not occur in their family or community,
- Immediately report any attempts of child marriage to the Panchayat or government officials,
- Work for the education, safety, and better future of all children.
Awareness Address
Speaking at the event, Special Sub-Inspector Mr. Maruthamuthu explained in detail:
- The consequences of child marriage,
- The provisions of the POCSO Act,
- The importance of education,
- The need for girls’ education,
- The necessity of re-enrolling school dropouts.
He also emphasised that every student must be aware of Good Touch and Bad Touch to ensure their personal safety.
