As there was no separate All Women Police Station to handle complaints related to women and children in areas falling under the Arumbakkam Police Sub-Division, a proposal was made to establish one. Based on the request put forth by the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, Thiru A. Arun, IPS, the Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, forwarded a recommendation to the Government. Subsequently, in accordance with the announcement made by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in the Legislative Assembly, a Government Order was issued by the Tamil Nadu Government on 19.08.2025.

Following this, as per the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai, Thiru A. Arun, IPS, today (05.02.2026) the Joint Commissioner of Police, West Zone, Tmt. E.S. Uma, IPS, in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Anna Nagar, Thiru R. Udhayakumar, IPS, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Arumbakkam, inaugurated the newly established Arumbakkam Sub-Division All Women Police Station at the ground floor of the K-8 Arumbakkam Police Station.

Henceforth, the general public residing within the jurisdiction of K-8 Arumbakkam Police Station and F-5 Choolaimedu Police Station may submit complaints related to women and children at the Arumbakkam All Women Police Station. It has been informed that all such complaints will be properly investigated and that enhanced and effective measures will be ensured for the safety and security of women and children.
