In support of the Tamil Nadu Government’s vision of a “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu,” a major anti-narcotics operation was carried out on 30.07.2025 by the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) in Ambattur, following a confidential tip received by Inspector Ramesh regarding the sale of ganja.

Acting swiftly, Inspector Ramesh along with the Assistant Inspector and a team of police personnel conducted surveillance near the auto stand close to Annanur Railway Station. During the operation, they intercepted a suspicious individual and, upon searching him, discovered 12 kilograms of ganja in his possession.

Upon investigation, the suspect was identified as Abul Kasim (age 40) from the state of Tripura. It was revealed that he had transported the ganja via Agartala Railway Station and intended to distribute it in areas including Annanur, Thirumullaivoyal, and Ambattur.

Following the seizure, a case was registered against him, and he was remanded to judicial custody. Commending the swift and effective action, the Police Commissioner praised Inspector Ramesh and the Prohibition Enforcement Wing team for their dedicated efforts in combating drug trafficking.
