At the Rajapalayam All-Women Police Station in Virudhunagar district, most of the people who come with complaints every day arrive due to family-related issues. For a single complaint, more than ten people from both sides — including elderly persons, women, children, and those accompanying them — gather at the station, resulting in heavy crowds almost every day. This is the station that receives the highest number of complaints in the district. Due to detailed inquiries held to resolve issues amicably, the process often gets delayed.
In this situation, there is no proper waiting area or seating facility for the people visiting the station. As there is no space in the South Police Station, the vehicles seized from there are brought and kept here. Since many vehicle owners never claim them, these vehicles have been lying abandoned for several years, deteriorating and becoming overgrown with bushes — turning into shelter for insects and reptiles. Amidst these damaged vehicles, the people visiting the station are forced to sit on the ground and wait.
Although there are a number of chairs inside the police station, they are not being used for the public. There is no staff assigned to bring the chairs outside during the day and move them back inside at night, resulting in hardship for the complainants.
Therefore, in the interest of the public, it is the strong request of the people that senior officials should inspect the situation immediately, rectify the shortcomings, and provide the necessary facilities.
