Under the direct supervision of Tirunelveli District Superintendent of Police Mr. N. Silambarasan, and the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime Division Mr. P.P. Murugan, a special operation was conducted by Police Inspector Mrs. V. Rama and her team to trace and recover lost mobile phones across the district.

Based on complaints received from the public, 100 mobile phones were successfully recovered and handed over to their rightful owners on 24.10.2025 by SP Mr. N. Silambarasan. The total value of the recovered phones is Rs. 17,82,773/-.

The public is informed that for lost or misplaced mobile phones, complaints can be registered on the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) website created by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India – https://www.ceir.gov.in/.
After registering the complaint, the lost device will be blocked to prevent misuse by others. If a new SIM card is inserted into the same device, an alert message will be automatically sent to the complainant.

Since stolen or missing phones can potentially be used for criminal activities, the Tirunelveli District Police has urged the public to immediately file a complaint at the nearest police station to enable faster recovery of lost phones.

In addition, if anyone falls victim to cybercrime, they can contact the toll-free helpline number 1930 or file a complaint through the official website https://cybercrime.gov.in/.

So far this year, a total of 404 mobile phones have been recovered and handed over to their respective owners by SP Mr. N. Silambarasan.
