Nagar, which falls under the jurisdiction of the R-1 Mambalam Police Station, Woman Sub-Inspector Meera displayed remarkable presence of mind and bravery by rescuing a 27-year-old woman who was attempting to take her own life.

On the evening of June 23, 2025, a woman named Devina (F/27), residing on the 4th floor of the apartment, locked herself inside her bedroom and sat on the window ledge, threatening to jump and end her life. Upon receiving this alarming information, police personnel rushed to the location.

Among the team, Woman Sub-Inspector Mrs. Meera, who was on duty at the time, acted swiftly. She first obtained Devina’s mobile number from her parents and calmly established contact with her over the phone. With a composed and compassionate tone, she engaged Devina in conversation to keep her distracted and emotionally stable.
Meanwhile, coordinating with the fire and rescue personnel, Meera and her team broke open the bedroom door. At that critical moment, Devina was sitting at the edge of the window, ready to jump. Meera, without hesitation, lunged forward and held on to her firmly, while the firemen assisted in pulling her back to safety.
