The Tamil Nadu Railway Police Department plays a crucial role in ensuring national security, preventing crimes, stopping illegal smuggling, gathering intelligence, and addressing crimes against women and children occurring at railway stations and on trains.
To create public awareness about the department’s work, a newsletter was released highlighting the achievements and initiatives of the Tamil Nadu Railway Police. This newsletter was officially launched on July 10, 2025, by the Director General of Police and Head of Force, Mr. Shankar Jiwal, IPS. It was received by Mr. B. Viswanath Eriya, IRSE, Divisional Railway Manager of Southern Railway, Chennai.



During the event, police personnel who had successfully detected crimes such as chain snatching and theft, those who had seized large quantities of ganja smuggled via trains, and officers who executed a long-pending non-bailable warrant against an accused from Maharashtra who had evaded court appearances for several days, were all recognized and appreciated.
The Director General of Police, Mr. Shankar Jiwal, presented certificates of appreciation and cash rewards to these officers in recognition of their dedicated service.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. K. Vannia Perumal, IPS, Director of Railway Police, Mr. A.G. Babu, IPS, Additional Director General of Railway Police, Mr. I. Easwaran, Superintendent of Railway Police, Chennai, along with Deputy Superintendents and Inspectors of Railway Police, making the occasion a memorable one.
