Theni District, July 12:
In an early morning operation, Bodi Taluk police led by Sub-Inspector Vijay conducted a surprise raid and seized banned tobacco products and illicit liquor bottles.
During the operation, the police confiscated 500 packets of Ganesh Gutkha and over 50 bottles of liquor, which were being stored for illegal sale, in violation of the central government’s ban on such substances.
Following a detailed investigation, police arrested three individuals in connection with the seizure:
Selvi (age 56) – Resident of Melachokkanathapuram
Veeran (42) – Resident of Durairajapuram Colony
Alagarsamy (28) – Resident of Meenatchipuram
Bodinayakanur Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Sunil and Bodi Taluk Police Station Inspector Mr. Ulaganathan personally inspected the raid site and commended the police team for their swift action.
The public has widely appreciated the firm steps taken by the police to curb the spread of narcotic substances in society. Authorities have also urged residents to report any such illegal activities in their surroundings to the police without hesitation.
