Under the directive of Greater Chennai Police Commissioner Mr. A. Arun, IPS, an anti-drug awareness campaign was organized at Sir Theagaraya College of Arts and Science, Tondiarpet.
The event, conducted by officers from the North Zone of the Greater Chennai Police, aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug use on physical health, mental well-being, and society. Students were also informed about the importance of staying away from drugs and the consequences of substance abuse.
Police officers urged students and faculty to immediately report any information regarding drug usage or trafficking either to the police or to college authorities. They assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.


Approximately 400 students, National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, and members of the Youth Against Drugs Club actively participated in the event, held under the leadership of the college principal.
Students took a solemn pledge to “Say No to Drugs” and committed themselves to becoming responsible citizens who would help build a drug-free society in the future.
The event also witnessed the participation of college professors, police officials, and NSS coordinators.
