As per the directive of Madurai City Police Commissioner Dr. J. Loganathan and under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Mrs. S. Vanitha, the Madurai City Traffic Police conducted a public awareness campaign for school students regarding safe travel by public buses.

This awareness initiative was carried out at key school junctions, bus stops, and major traffic signal intersections across the city. As part of the campaign, Traffic Inspector Mr. A. Thangamani from the Thilagar Thidal division engaged with students waiting at bus stops near Simmakkal, explaining the importance of safe bus travel.

He emphasized the dangers of unsafe practices such as standing on the bus footboard or hanging from the bus while it is in motion. He conveyed in an emotional and impactful manner how such reckless travel behavior could lead to severe accidents and even fatal consequences.

At the end of the session, all the students took a pledge in front of the traffic inspector, promising that they would not travel on the bus footboard or hang onto a moving bus. The direct interaction with students left a strong impression and raised significant awareness among them. This initiative stands as an important step toward ensuring their future safety and developing responsible behavior in public spaces.
