Today (09.08.2025), at the Tiruchirappalli District Armed Police Ground, under the initiative of Tiruchi District Superintendent of Police C. Selvanagarethinam, IPS, a special event was held to prevent road accidents and emphasize the importance of wearing helmets.

In this event, 330 members of the Tiruchi District Village Guard Force were provided with helmets worth ₹1,100 each, sponsored jointly by V. Kana (Tamil Nadu President, recipient of the Indira Gandhi National Award for Best Student and Social Service from the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee) and True Home Finance.

The program was attended by the District Armed Reserve Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tiruchi Range Assistant Commander Rajan, Zonal Commander Saiyoob, and Deputy Zonal Commander Praveena Devaraj, who addressed the village guards on road accident awareness.

After the distribution, the Superintendent of Police personally helped each village guard wear the helmet. At 8:00 a.m., the helmet-wearing village guards set off on two-wheelers from the Armed Police Grounds in a rally to raise public awareness on road safety. The rally was flagged off by the Superintendent of Police.

Furthermore, the Superintendent of Police has ordered that all members of the Tiruchi District Police and Village Guard Force must wear helmets without fail while traveling on two-wheelers.
