With the aim of creating awareness among students about the dangers of drug use, the Nagapattinam District Police, in coordination with the Prohibition Enforcement Wing, organised a series of competitions for government school students across every police sub-division in the district. The contests — essay writing, drawing, and public speaking — focused on the theme of anti-drug awareness.
Students who gave outstanding performances at the school and station level were selected for the district-level finals, which took place today (09.08.2025) at the Vasandham Marriage Hall, Armed Reserve, Nagapattinam. The event was presided over by Nagapattinam District Superintendent of Police S. Selvakumar, IPS.

At the ceremony, winners were presented with prizes and certificates. Addressing the gathering, the Superintendent of Police spoke about the harmful effects of drugs, urged students to inform the police about drug-related activities, and highlighted the toll-free helpline 10581 for reporting such incidents.
The event was also attended by K.K. Balasandhar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime Division; O. Anand, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Prohibition Enforcement Wing; along with other Deputy Superintendents of Police from Nagapattinam District.
