In Nagapattinam district, the Velankanni Aarokiya Madha Annual Festival will commence with the flag hoisting on the evening of 29.08.2025 and conclude with the flag lowering ceremony on the evening of 08.09.2025.
Ahead of the festival, T. Jiyavul Haq, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Thanjavur Range, visited the Velankanni area to review the security arrangements. As a precautionary measure to prevent thefts and criminal incidents, several CCTV cameras have been installed, and their significance was explained to the officials.
In addition, a special task force will be deployed to prevent untoward incidents. Authorities have also instructed that bathing in the seashore is strictly prohibited.
To ensure smooth movement for devotees and pilgrims without any hindrance, special traffic arrangements will be enforced for hassle-free and faster transportation.
