In Vellore district, the Cyber Crime Police have successfully recovered a total amount of ₹17,06,573/- lost by 15 individuals in various online frauds reported during the month of August.

A branch manager of an insurance company in Sainathapuram lost money in an online investment scam. Similarly, a workshop owner from Gudiyatham was cheated after making advance payments through WhatsApp for purchasing machinery. In another case, a private company employee from Karasamangalam was tricked into sharing personal details after receiving a fraudulent SMS asking him to update his KYC, resulting in financial loss. Based on such complaints, the Cyber Crime Police took swift action and ensured the lost money was directly credited back into the victims’ bank accounts.

The recovery acknowledgment receipts were formally handed over today by Vellore District Superintendent of Police, Mr. A. Mayilvaganan, IPS, to the victims. Mr. K. Annadurai, Additional Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime, was also present on the occasion.
