Chennai: Under the directions of Chennai City Police Commissioner, Mr. A. Arun, IPS, the Chennai City Police have been conducting intensive drug awareness initiatives across the city.

As part of these efforts, today (25.10.2025), the North Zone Prohibition Enforcement Wing in association with Vannarapettai Police District organized a drug awareness program at Kasimedu Fish Market and the Community Welfare Hall.

During the event, the Deputy Commissioner of the North Zone Prohibition Enforcement Wing addressed the public, explaining the harmful effects of drug abuse and providing guidance on how to overcome addiction. He also highlighted preventive measures to ensure that family members and youth do not fall prey to substance abuse.

The program also informed the public about the government’s free helpline number 10581, where citizens can report illegal alcohol and drug sales. Awareness pamphlets were distributed to educate the community.

The initiative aimed to promote a drug-free Tamil Nadu and build a youth society free from substance abuse. The event was attended by officials from the Prohibition Enforcement Wing, police inspectors, and over 100 members of the public.
