Chengalpattu:
The Chengalpattu District POCSO Special Court has sentenced a man named Samuel (aged 34) to life imprisonment and imposed a fine for sexually assaulting a minor girl.

The incident occurred on October 10, 2020, in the jurisdiction of the Guindy All Women Police Station. When the victim’s mother was away from home, Samuel, who lived nearby, sexually assaulted the minor girl.

Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the Guindy All Women Police registered a case under Crime No.17/2020, invoking Sections 6 and 10 of the POCSO Act and Section 376(1) of the Indian Penal Code. Due to jurisdictional reasons, the case was later transferred to the W-6 Semmenchery All Women Police Station.

During the investigation, the accused Samuel, son of Sekar, residing at Ezhil Nagar, Kannagi Nagar, Chennai – 97, was arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Upon completion of the investigation, a charge sheet was filed on March 17, 2021.

The case was taken up for trial in the Chengalpattu Special Court under Spl.S.C.No.38/2021. During the proceedings, 10 witnesses were examined and 18 documentary evidences were presented before the court.

After reviewing all the evidence and testimonies, the court found the accused guilty and delivered its verdict on October 25, 2025.

The court sentenced Samuel to life imprisonment for the sexual assault of a minor and imposed a fine of ₹1,000, with an additional one-year imprisonment in case of default in payment.

Furthermore, the court ordered a compensation amount of ₹5,00,000 (Five Lakhs Rupees) to be provided to the victim.
