Under the orders of the Trichy Range Police Chief Thiru V. Balakrishnan, IPS, and as per the guidance of the Superintendent of Police, Perambalur District, Tmt. G.S. Anitha, and under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police Thiru. Balamurugan, the Perambalur District Cyber Crime Police conducted an awareness programme on cyber crimes on 04.02.2026 at Kurumbalur Government Arts and Science College.

During the programme, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Thiru S. Manoj, Assistant Sub-Inspector (Technical) Thiru. Sivanesan, Head Constables Suresh and Sathishkumar, and Police Constable Riyaz Ahmed created awareness among the students about various cyber crimes.

The students were educated on the safe use of ATM cards, the importance of not sharing ATM card details and OTP numbers with anyone, and not disclosing bank-related information. Awareness was also provided on various online frauds such as part-time job frauds, Telegram task frauds, job placement scams, E-bike dealership scams, loan app frauds, blackmailing through obscene videos, cryptocurrency-related frauds, overseas job scams, mobile tower installation scams, prize and gift scams, and cyber crimes through social media platforms.

Further, the programme highlighted the importance of safeguarding personal information, changing passwords regularly, risks involved in online gaming, avoiding unnecessary mobile applications, and adopting safe practices while making online banking transactions.

It was also explained that in case of any financial loss due to cyber fraud, the public should immediately inform the Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 and lodge a complaint through the website www.cybercrime.gov.in.
