Under the leadership of Kanyakumari District Superintendent of Police Dr. R. Stalin, IPS, who prioritizes securing punishment for offenders in crimes against women and children, a significant judgment has been delivered in a POCSO case.

In a case registered at the Marthandam All Women Police Station (Crime No. 12/2018), a 50-year-old man named Murugan, son of Abel from Thirunandikkarai, Valavilai area, was accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in 2023. The case was registered under Section 376 AB of the IPC and Sections 5(l), 5(n), 6, 9(m), 9(n), and 10 of the POCSO Act.

Following a thorough investigation, the case was taken up by the Special POCSO Court in Nagercoil. The judge found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1,000.

The efforts of the investigating officers, government prosecutor, court police, the Marthandam Sub-Divisional Police Officer who oversaw the trial, and the Inspector of the Marthandam All Women Police Station were instrumental in securing this conviction.
