Savari Muthu, a resident of Karipatti in Salem district, went to withdraw cash from an ATM near Salem Four Roads on the 13th of last month. At that time, Saravanraj, a native of Tiruvannamalai district, cleverly stole Savari Muthu’s ATM card and withdrew ₹28,000 from his account.
Based on a complaint filed by Savari Muthu, the Asthampatti Police registered a case and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the ATM center confirmed that the suspect was Saravanraj.
Following this, police received information from Inspector Yuvaraj of Asthampatti Police Station that the accused Saravanraj was appearing in court in Tiruvannamalai for another case. Acting on this tip-off, a special police team arrested him in Tiruvannamalai.
He was brought to Salem and produced before the court.
