On the occasion of the Pongal festival, a Samathuva Pongal (Equality Pongal) celebration was held today (13.01.2026) at Sathu Madurai village near Adukkamparai in Vellore District. The event was organised on behalf of the village residents and was conducted under the leadership of the District Collector, Ms. V.E.R. Subbulakshmi, IAS, and the Superintendent of Police, Vellore District, Mr. A. Mayilvahanan, IPS.
The celebration, organised to emphasise social equality, unity and traditional cultural values, witnessed active participation from people of all sections of the village. Residents came together to prepare and celebrate Pongal collectively, reflecting the true spirit of harmony and togetherness.


Following the Samathuva Pongal celebrations, a special road safety awareness programme was conducted under the leadership of the District Superintendent of Police, Mr. A. Mayilvahanan, IPS. During the programme, the importance of wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers was highlighted to the public. As part of the awareness initiative, helmets were distributed to two-wheeler riders, and they were advised on safe and responsible riding practices.
The event was attended by government officials, police officers, local body representatives and members of the public, who together made the Samathuva Pongal celebration and the road safety awareness programme a meaningful and successful occasion.
