Based on a secret tip-off, the Pallikaranai Prohibition Enforcement Wing conducted a raid on 03.09.2025 around 8.00 a.m. near Arasankazhani lake, Perumbakkam. During the operation, two persons from Odisha – Thanoor Jai Kara (34), son of Siba Kara, Baiguda, Badpader, Malkangiri, Odisha-764052, and Kamal Laison Kila (24), son of Balram Kila, Andrapalli, Takadpader, Dhaka, Chitrakonda, Malkangiri, Odisha-764052 – were caught. A total of 101 kg of ganja and two mobile phones were seized from them.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had procured the ganja from Odisha and brought it to Perumbakkam and nearby areas for retail sale to daily wage workers.
In connection with this incident, a case has been registered at Pallikaranai Prohibition Enforcement Wing under Cr.No.93/2025, U/s 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(B)(C), 25 of the NDPS Act. Both arrested individuals have been produced before the magistrate and are being remanded to judicial custody.
Tambaram city police continue to take strict measures to curb the illegal drug trade. This operation is part of their ongoing efforts to keep the city safe and to protect the public, especially the youth, from the menace of narcotics.
