Madurai:
Police personnel who joined the Tamil Nadu Police Department on December 1, 2003, and formed the “Uthavum Karangal – 2003” (Helping Hands – 2003) group, completed their 90th and 91st contributions on October 4, 2025 (Purattasi 18, Tamil calendar year Vishvavasu).

90th Contribution – For the family of Late T. Kasi Viswanathan:
Late T. Kasi Viswanathan (T.Ka. 2535), who served in the Civil Supplies Crime Investigation Unit, Virudhunagar District, while on deputation from the Madurai City Police, tragically passed away in a road accident. Considering the welfare of his family, his police colleagues collectively raised a total sum of ₹27,89,000/-.

Out of this amount, investments were made in the names of his three daughters in the Indian Postal Department’s Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) and National Savings Certificate (NSC) schemes, with ₹7,00,000/-, ₹6,00,000/-, and ₹6,00,000/- respectively. His wife, Mrs. K. Jeyaramya, had ₹6,00,000/- invested in the LIC Jeevan Shanti pension plan. For medical protection of the family, ₹10,840/- was paid towards a Star Health – Arogya Sanjeevani medical insurance policy. The remaining ₹2,78,160/- was credited directly to Mrs. Jeyaramya’s bank account for family needs.

91st Contribution – For the family of Late S. Karthigai Raja:
Late S. Karthigai Raja, who served at the D-3 Koodal Pudur Police Station under Madurai City Police, passed away due to ill health. To support his family, members of the “Uthavum Karangal – 2003” group collected and distributed a total of ₹27,89,000/-.

From this amount, ₹5,00,000/- each was invested in the names of his two sons under the Indian Postal Department’s Time Deposit (TD) scheme. His wife, Mrs. K. Sharmila, had ₹6,00,000/- invested in the LIC Jeevan Shanti plan and ₹9,00,000/- in the Post Office Monthly Income Scheme (MIS) account. Additionally, ₹11,590/- was paid towards Star Health – Arogya Sanjeevani medical insurance for family health coverage. The remaining ₹2,77,410/- was credited to Mrs. Sharmila’s bank account for family use.

A total of around 5,578 police personnel, who joined service together in 2003, voluntarily contributed ₹500 each through coordination over the Telegram social media platform. The “Uthavum Karangal – 2003” initiative continues to stand as a shining example of compassion, solidarity, and brotherhood within the Tamil Nadu Police force.
