In Trichy district, under the jurisdiction of the Samayapuram Police Station, a major robbery case involving around 10 kilograms of gold jewelry was solved after police arrested 12 North Indian offenders and recovered approximately 9.68 kilograms of gold.

On the night of September 13, 2025, four masked men traveling in a black car attacked Gunavanth and his companions, who were en route to Chennai, by throwing chili powder at them and escaped with about 10 kilograms of gold ornaments.

Following the incident, Trichy District Superintendent of Police, Mr. C. Selvanagarathinam, IPS, formed five special teams led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Dinesh Kumar. The teams coordinated with police forces across Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar and launched an extensive search operation.

Based on the investigation, the police arrested 12 accused, including Pradeep Jat, Manohar Ram, Bannaram Devasi, Mohammed Sokael, Kailash, Hanumar Jat, Manish Sirohi, Mangkilal, Vikram Jat, Bharat Ram, Rakesh, and Lakshmi Devi, all hailing from Rajasthan.

From the arrested offenders, the police seized 6.234 kg of gold ornaments, 3.446 kg of gold bars, ₹5.6 lakh cash, a Hyundai Venue car, a country-made pistol, mobile phones, and SIM cards.

Commending the efficient work of the investigation team, the Superintendent of Police recommended commendation certificates and cash rewards for DSP Dinesh Kumar, the investigation officers, and members of the cybercrime division who played key roles in the operation.

The police further advised the public and jewelry traders to take adequate safety measures while transporting high-value items like gold or diamonds, avoid late-night travel, and refrain from sharing travel details unnecessarily.
