XIII Batch of Deputy Superintendents of Police Successfully Completes Training at TNPA – Passing Out Parade Held on 18.07.2025
The Passing Out Parade of the XIII Batch of directly appointed Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) was held at the Tamil Nadu Police Academy (TNPA) on 18th July 2025. A total of 24 officers – 15 men and 9 women – successfully completed their intensive one-year basic institutional training, which commenced on 22nd July 2024.
These new DSPs bring with them a diverse range of educational and professional backgrounds. Among them, one holds a Ph.D., another has a degree in Veterinary Science, and one holds a degree in Siddha Medicine. Additionally, the batch includes 15 engineering graduates, two postgraduates, and four undergraduates. Ten officers had prior experience in various government departments, one came from the private sector, and for 13 officers, this marks their first job.
Over the course of 52 weeks, the trainees underwent comprehensive training covering a broad spectrum of subjects including law, scientific investigation techniques, advanced policing technologies, internal security, cybercrime, community policing, intelligence gathering, leadership, and communication. The training was delivered by seasoned police officers and subject matter experts.
The physical training module was equally rigorous, including regular drills and parade practices, a 10-day attachment with the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force (STF), and specialized training in mountaineering, swimming, karate, yoga, firearms handling, shooting, and multi-vehicle driving. The trainees were also deployed for live operational duties during major events such as Jallikattu and Maha Karthigai Deepam to gain on-ground experience.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, addressed the trainees via video conferencing, extending his congratulations and best wishes to the newly commissioned officers.

Director General of Police and Head of Police Force, Tamil Nadu, Thiru Shankar Jiwal, I.P.S., presided over the ceremony and accepted the ceremonial salute. He delivered a special address and presented medals and awards to outstanding performers. The top performers received the prestigious Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Trophy and Sword of Honour.
The welcome address and detailed training report were presented by Thiru Sandeep Rai Rathore, I.P.S., Director General of Police (Training) and Director, TNPA. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Tmt. P.C. Thenmozhi, I.P.S., Additional Director, TNPA.
Excellent arrangements for the smooth conduct of the ceremony were made by Thiru T.P. Suresh Kumar, I.P.S., Deputy Director (Training), and Dr. T. Senthil Kumar, I.P.S., Deputy Director (Administration).
The event was graced by senior police officials, including Directors General of Police, Additional Directors General, police officers from various departments, as well as the families of the trainee officers, making it a proud and memorable occasion.
